Collection of whites
Its notoriety exceeds its reach. Who hasn’t dreamed of a terrace by the water, with a glass of white Entre-deux-Mers?
Entre-deux-Mers is a wine of many facets: fruity or mineral, round or tight, lively or aromatic, tangy or tropical, frank or complex, this wine has many faces. It would be a mistake to reduce it to a single nature.
Its winegrowers offer a treasure trove of know-how and imagination: they play around with different blends and varying grape ripeness; they explore technical processes and ageing choices. Variety in style means variety in serving opportunities.
Crescendo
Winegrowers have now chosen to refine the identity of their appellation. Blending, an obligatory feature of the PDO, means that a new balance must be struck among grape varieties. As the only Bordeaux appellation to follow this rule, it reinforces the typicity of its wines.
Each cuvée and vintage must be approved by an expert during an official tasting session.
The creation of the red PDO brings new life and new ambition to the white wine.
Indigenous
Its four grape varieties, Sauvignon-Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon-Gris are all from the region, they are developed locally.
Sauvignon Blanc,
Before its international popularity, Sauvignon originated here. Its powerful aromas make it a characteristic grape with many recognisable notes: citrus, passion fruit, acacia flowers, broom, boxwood.
Semillon,
Indigenous Semillon produces ambitious wines throughout the world. It has inherited the title of "great French white grape variety". It is wonderfully supple and round. Its characteristic: notes of white-fleshed fruit. Entre-deux-Mers is home to centuries-old Semillons. The Entre-deux-Mers region is home to centuries-old Semillon vines.
Sauvignon gris,
a relative of Sauvignon, is a survivor. At the end of the 1950s it had almost disappeared. Since then it has been proudly defended by lovers of its strong character, it still only makes up a small amount of the production. It has an exotic personality.
Muscadelle,
Muscadelle is a demanding grape variety and grows particularly well in Entre-deux-Mers, where it has found its preferred terroir. Accounting only for a small percentage of the blend, Muscadelle influences the style of the wine. Its very aromatic notes make it distinctive and contribute roundness and depth to a blend.
